Caterers 'happy at work'

People employed in the catering industry are among the happiest workers in the UK, new research has revealed.

According to Badenoch & Clark, the catering sector joins the retail industry at the top of the list of fields with happy workers.

At the other end of the scale, those working in information technology were found to be amongst those most unhappy with their job.

Neil Wilson, managing director of the firm, told the Evening Times newspaper that people are still broadly satisfied with their future prospects despite recent concerns about the stability of the economy.

"What's particularly interesting is the volume of people who anticipate making a change in 2008 and the relatively low impact the current economic uncertainty seems to be having," he said.

"It seems workers remain confident they'll find new roles."

Those interested in contract catering jobs may want to consider heading to Glasgow, where 87 per cent of staff are said to be happy at work.

Across the rest of the UK, the figure is 79 per cent, giving the Scottish catering recruitment industry yet another reason to be hopeful.
