Hilton Hotels Corporation is to open a 350 room hotel near Heathrow airport's new Terminal Five.

Due for completion in 2010, the hotel will be located in Poyle and forms part of a new partnership with Hospitality Management International group, who will use the Hilton brand in a 20-year franchise agreement.

Regional vice president of operations, John Philips, says that Hilton is investing in London to take advantage of the upcoming 2012 Olympics and the expansion of the new airport.

"The Heathrow deal takes total capital committed to the development of the Hilton brand in London to more than $500million (£251 million) in the past two years," Mr Philips said.

Heathrow's new terminal will process 30 million extra passengers each year and is big enough to fit 50 football pitches over five floors.

Both the Hilton and Heathrow expansions represent a windfall for hospitality jobs with hundreds of new positions set to be created.

Terminal Five, which is due to open later this year, will offer a range of restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes, including celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's new 180 cover restaurant, Plane Food.
