New hospitality jobs are set to be created in Felixstowe after developers won permission to revamp a disused hotel.
The 32 bedroom Routemaster motel on Walton Avenue is currently closed and the Evening Star reports that it has recently fallen into disrepair.
Now property firm Blazedeal plans to modernise the motel and double its floor space in order to create a 51-bedroom Travelodge after planning officials at Suffolk Coastal council gave the scheme the go ahead.
As well as new hotel jobs, the plans are also likely to create bar and restaurant work, with the firm intending to reopen and expand the existing hospitality facilities.
Robbie Grobler, of Blazedeal, told the newspaper: "The proposal aims to revitalise the site and bring it back into full use as it's quite rundown at present and in need of investment."
The new development is located close to the A14, which links Felixstowe to the north of England and the Midlands, and is close to the town's port, which is one of the largest container ports in Europe.
