Contract catering firm Alberts is going from strength to strength as its owners try to meet the needs of an increasingly "food aware" public.
Deborah Batley told the Evening the Gazette that she and business partner Sarah Hutchcraft have incorporated the principles of healthy eating into the dishes their firm creates for clients in the Teesside area.
"Because people are far more educated about what they should and shouldn't eat
we try to cater for that," she explained.
The pair had the idea for a contract catering firm specialising in healthy food last year and the firm has flourished since it launched, preparing seasonal menus using locally-sourced ingredients.
Ms Batley commented: "We had both worked in the pub trade and both had a great passion for food.
"We started with a leaving party at a local school and it has just spring boarded from there."
The contract catering sector in the north-east has shown further signs of activity in recent weeks, with the owner of Tyneside-based firm Sidney's around the Corner telling the Journal that the market is a big one.
