Those interested in pursuing a career in catering or working as a chef may be interested in viewing a cookery display by two experts at the annual South of England show next month.

A chef and a catering specialist will be demonstrating their cooking skills as part of the National Year of Food and Farming category at the show, which takes place between June 5th and 7th.

Demonstrations by head chef Kevin Love and top catering specialist Kathryn Seal, from Lime Food Design, will take place on each day of the show.

The National Year of Food campaign also includes a food and wine market and agricultural attractions to educate people – children, adults and catering professionals alike - about the value of knowing where food comes from and using fresh produce in cooking.

"We always promote the link between agriculture and the food on our plate, and these cookery demonstrations will reinforce that," said Deborah Barber, director of the South of England Agricultural Society.

There has recently been a drive from government and chefs alike on improving the standards of what is eaten in the UK, as well as increasing access to fresh, organically produced food.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay demanded on Radio 4 last week that legislation be put in place ensuring that restaurants only cook with in-season vegetables.
