Sodexo Prestige to offer contract catering jobs at Newcastle museum

Sodexo Prestige has signed a contract to provide conference, banqueting and visitor catering services at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Contract catering jobs could be created in the north-east after the three-year, £3 million deal was agreed, it has been suggested.

Sodexo Prestige will manage two eateries – The Street Cafe and The Hancock Cafe – which are likely to attract custom from museum visitors, tour groups and university students.

David Johnson, operations director at the firm, says it is "extremely proud" to have been awarded such a prestigious contract for a unique and important venue in Newcastle.

He adds: "We look forward to working in partnership with the Great North Museum: Hancock to deliver outstanding events and visitor catering in a truly exceptional venue."

Jon Walker, trading manager at the museum, comments that the opening will be "a highlight on the north-east of England's calendar this spring".

Earlier this year, The Rare lounge bar and steakhouse opened in Newcastle city centre, creating 20 hospitality jobs.
