Contract catering jobs could be created as one of the north-east's most successful bar and restaurant chains gets ready to branch out.
Principle, which is behind Tyneside-based outlets including San Lorenzo and CafeAntipasto, has launched a new outdoor events arm, the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette reported.
Speaking to the news provider Stuart Young, the firm's managing director, explained that the new venture, Popolo Events, should open new doors for the company.
He said: "The new events division adds another string to our bow. We are looking to move our production to a trading site with storage, distribution, production and perhaps a retail unit for restaurant quality food for those working on the estate."
Recently, it was revealed that contract catering firm Cucina had secured three new deals to provide food for three schools in the south-east of England.
The move, which involved Basildon Academy in Essex, Beaumont School in St Albans and Queens' School in Bushey, Hertfordshire, gave catering jobs in the area a boost.
