An event aimed at helping people in hospitality jobs make connections in Yorkshire and Humberside will take place tomorrow (February 9th).

Meet the Producer will provide an opportunity for hotels, restaurants and caterers who wish to source food locally to meet more than 75 food and drink producers.

The event, held in Harrogate from 10:00 GMT to 16:00 GMT, will allow caterers to make contacts and secure contracts with producers in Yorkshire and Humberside.

More than 130 companies have already confirmed that they will attend, including big names such as Little Chef and Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate, along with retailers, councils, farm shops, NHS trusts, tourist attractions and hotel groups.

Melanie Whitehead, Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber (RFG) trade development manager, said: "The Meet the Producer event provides the perfect opportunity to meet many companies at the same time in the same place, saving time and effort for both parties, and securing new business leads and indeed signed contracts."

She added that RFG aims to make sourcing local and regional food, a high priority for many companies, as easy as possible.

People in hospitality jobs were recently encouraged to join the BBO (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire) Food Group, according to Eat Out Magazine.
