People looking for catering jobs in Bristol have been buoyed by the news that a science park will bring new roles to the city.

The SPark in Emersons Green, which has cost around £300 million, will create thousands of research and development roles and has recently received extra funding from the South West Regional Development Agency.

"Like all major property projects, the recession has taken its toll on progress with SPark. That's why the government is keen to support the RDA putting this extra investment in," said regional minister Jim Knight.

The minister added that Bristol is becoming a hub for high-tech developments with companies like Airbus and HP Labs being located near to the city.

People in the catering jobs will serve the 6,000 workers who will be located in the government-backed facility.

Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal recently created around 16 jobs when he brought his new menu to the tables of Little Chef in Kettering.
