The hotel's chefs were awarded an AA rosette

Hertfordshire's Tewin Bury Farm Hotel has won a second coveted AA rosette after a surprise inspection of the business' restaurant last week.

The 29-bedroom hotel, near Welwyn, is already a four-star AA hotel and won a single rosette in both 2008 and 2009, but this latest award came after the AA's south-of-England area manager spent time enjoying the food, building and its surroundings.

He said the hotel was "fantastic everywhere" and that the menu was "adventurous with fantastic flavours". To the delight of Jonathan Green and his chefs in the restaurant kitchen, the judge duly awarded a second rosette.

The AA's rosette scheme recognises hard work and delicious food in the restaurant industry as well as high standards, with only 40 per cent of the hotels or restaurants in the AA's guide having been awarded two.

According to its website, two rosettes are awarded to "excellent restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards" and to those that pay "obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients".
