Travelodge has created ten hotel jobs in Northampton town centre.

The town's former 57-bed Grand Hotel has undergone £2.3 million of refurbishment work, which has given each of the rooms a new lease of life.

In addition, the hotel's former kitchens and meeting rooms have been converted into eight extra bedrooms.

James Collins, Travelodge's district manager for Northamptonshire, said: "We fought off some tough competition to secure this new hotel and are delighted to be opening our first hotel in the town centre in such a fantastic central location."

The UK budget hotel chain asserts that the new Travelodge will be an ideal base for motorsport fans visiting Northamptonshire for the British Grand Prix.

It could also be popular among businessmen and women, as large corporations such as Barclays Bank, Panasonic UK and Coca Cola are located in the town.

Earlier this year, Premier Inn announced it was to build a 112-bedroom establishment in nearby Warwick, which is set to create 45 jobs in the area.
