South Lynn hotel development approved

Travelodge could create hospitality jobs in south Lynn, Norfolk, through plans to build a 68-bedroom hotel in the area, along with a Hungry Horse pub and a retail unit.
Around 70 jobs are expected to be generated at the two establishments, which could open in autumn of this year and will be developed by Equity Estates, the Lynn News reports.
Building is planned to start in May, despite complaints from some members of the planning committee about the unsightly nature of the development and its positioning beside the main entrance to the town.
Equity Estates chief executive Alastair Thomas said: "We are very delighted and pleased that the council has approved our scheme. We have worked very hard to get to this point."
He added that he is looking forward to being involved in a project in such a "vibrant town".
The Western Gazette recently noted that a new Travelodge in Wincanton could bring up to £1 million into the town in economic growth and tourism.
