Bar jobs are set to be generated in Fakenham, Norfolk through plans to open a new JD Wetherspoon establishment in the town, with a £1 million refurbishment of the former Garden House pub set to be carried out.
The development is expected to create about 45 jobs for the area and drive footfall into the town centre, reports the Eastern Daily Press.
But Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said the project is good news for residents and businesses in the town.
"Our pubs are successful and we do provide competition … but at the same time, we will be bringing more people into Fakenham and other pubs and restaurants can benefit from this," suggested Mr Gershon.
He added that the company has yet to decide upon a name for the new establishment but intends for it to be related to Fakenham in some way.
Last year the UK hospitality company opened its 800th UK pub, 32 years after it was founded by Tim Martin.
