A new South African eatery has opened in Camden, creating many restaurant jobs in the lively London borough.
Costing £5.5 million to build, Shaka Zulu covers two floors and 27,000 sq ft in Stables Market, Camden.
The restaurant took three years to complete, as it is intricately decorated, featuring handmade mosaics and wall-hung tribal masks.
It boasts a seafood and oyster bar as well as an authentic South African Braai serving traditional dishes.
Specialities on the menu include ostrich and springbok but less-adventurous offering such as red poll beef and dorper lamb are also available.
Singer and Camden-dweller Amy Winehouse was present at the restaurant on its opening night with her boyfriend Reg Traviss.
Guests of honour at the opening were Zulu monarch His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini and Queen Mantfombi.
Elsewhere in London, celebrated French chef Pierre Koffmann's new restaurant recently opened.
The eatery, run by restaurant manager Eric Garnier, is located in The Berkley hotel in Knightsbridge, London.
