A new mid-market hotel is set to create 100 local jobs when it opens in Peterborough later this year, it has been reported.
According to the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, hotel chain Rezidor intends to begin construction on the 115-room Peterborough Park Inn Hotel in the heart of the city centre in the spring, with a spokesman saying the venue is scheduled to open before Christmas, with "a grand opening a few months later".
"It will be a fantastic facility, with four meeting rooms available, a restaurant and a lounge bar for visitors and business people to use."
Opportunities for restaurant work are poised to be created as the hotel intends to serve 70 diners at its all-day international restaurant, with a separate lounge also serving drinks.
John Bridge, the chief executive of the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, told the newspaper that the project represents "a very positive investment for the city", commenting that it will give the town its first big city centre hotel
"It shows that Peterborough is developing and thriving from an economic point of view," he said.
