Hotel chain Premier Inn is set to create 60 new full and part-time hotel jobs in the city of Lisburn, according to the Ulster Star.

The newspaper reports that the firm, which operates more than 500 hotels across the UK, is preparing to spend £10 million on a new 60-room property located on Hillsborough Road after the Planning Service gave the development the green light.

Restaurant work roles are also likely to be created at the new hotel as owners Whitbread intend to launch a Brewers Fayre eatery.

The company already operates hotels in Carrickfergus and Belfast and has previously announced plans to open new properties in the city and Coleraine.

Mark Adams, Northern Ireland acquisitions manager for Whitbread, said: "We're very excited to be bringing a new hotel [to] Lisburn, it is a great location and we are really looking forward to getting started.

"The Northern Ireland market provides a very attractive opportunity for us to expand and Lisburn in particular is a city on the up."

Mr Adams added that the firm hopes "to be able to announce further investments across Northern Ireland in the near future".
