A five-star hotel is to be built in north Yorkshire and will create 500 local jobs in the region when it is completed in 2011, according to reports.

Property development firm Skelwith Group plans to build the 303-room hotel between York and Harrogate, with the property set to offer new restaurant work opportunities at three new eateries as well as jobs at two new bars.

The hotel, which will be called the Flaxby Country Club, will also boast a 27-hole golf course, with further hospitality jobs likely to be up-for-grabs at a luxury clubhouse and bar.

The York Press reports that the firm is splashing out £100 million on the project and expects that the most luxurious rooms will generate £800 per night upon completion.

Paul Ellis, the managing director of the Skelwith Group, told the newspaper: "This hotel and spa will be the North of England's premier destination for business, leisure and all special occasions.

"It will boost the local and regional economy and be the last word in luxury travel experience."
