Starbucks to open concessions at Village Hotels

New jobs expected as Starbucks and Village Hotels sign licensing deal

Starbucks, the major coffee chain, has agreed a hotel licensing deal with De Vere's Village Hotels, according to Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine.

The first concession has already been launched at the new Village Hotel at Ashton Moss in Manchester, which opened in April 2008 and created many new hotel jobs.

Village Hotels' chief operating officer Gary Davis, told the magazine: "This partnership will give us the opportunity to reach new customers."

Job opportunities are expected to arise at nine other locations, including south Leeds, Maidstone, Village Walsall, Elstree and Swansea.

The first UK hotel group to sign up to a licensing deal with Starbucks was Shire Hotels in March 2008.

As of February 2008, Starbucks' claimed that there were more than 15,000 Starbucks coffee shops in operation worldwide, either company-operated, licensed or through partnerships such as the Village Hotels and Shire deals.
