High definition TV programming coming to UK hotel rooms

Hospitality workers can anticipate the technological side of their coveted industry taking leaps and bounds, as high definition (HD) programming will be coming to hotel rooms across the UK.

A collaboration between Swisscom, one of the world’s leading providers of "broadband-based internet solutions" and Tangerine Global, an already acclaimed supplier of the HD technology to hotels worldwide, will see the two technologies come together to boost choice for hotel guests.

Hotels chosen by Swisscom across Europe, North America and the Middle East will benefit from the technology, predicted to start becoming available in the third quarter of 2008.

Both companies have assisted the hospitality industry in the past with technological services and products.

Stuart Levin, chief executive officer of Tangerine Global, said of the partnership: "Swisscom is a major force in the hospitality sector whose attention to quality and innovation align perfectly with [our] commitment to deliver a compelling entertainment experience to upscale hotel guests around the world."

This follows a recent announcement from Bartech, "a world leader in automatic minibar systems", that the latest wireless monitoring and quality technology will be installed in hotels worldwide.
