The Fitzpatrick Hotel Group is set to convert a Georgian townhouse by the Edinburgh playhouse into a £35 million five-star hotel, it has been reported.
Planning permission is currently being sought for the project, and if successful, over 150 bedrooms and 100 local jobs will be created, according to the Scotsman.
Rory Duggan, financial controller for the Fitzpatrick Design Group, told the publication: "We're looking to create a chic and inviting design-led hotel, which will provide an oasis for the corporate traveller during the week and fresh and funky option for the weekend leisure market."
The luxury hotel is expected to open at the end of 2010 and will hence precede by months the launch of operations of the city's new tram network, upon which the site in Baxter Place is located, and a factor which positively influenced the hotel group's decision to take on the project.
Awards and honours bestowed on the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Killiney, County Dublin include an AA rosette in Culinary Excellence and the Best Practice Award won this year organised through tourism authority Failte Ireland, reflecting an employer dedicated to high standards.
