Edinburgh hotel wins top award

Choice Hotels International has unveiled Quality Hotel Edinburgh Airport as one of two winners of its prestigious European Quality Hotel of the Year award.

The facility in the Scottish capital tied with Quality Hotel Bordeaux Airport in first place, recognising its commitment to providing service excellence.

Choice Hotels reviewed each property's guest satisfaction and cleanliness scores to identify the top performing facilities – with the results at the top end of the scale reflecting well upon those working in hospitality and hotel manger jobs.

Duncan Berry, chief operating officer at Choice Hotels Europe, said the owner, hotel manager and employees at the Edinburgh complex should be "proud" of "a great accomplishment".

Nicola Taylor, of Quality Hotel Edinburgh Airport, said: "We are delighted to be recognised as European Quality Hotel of the Year.

"We believe we offer an excellent and convenient airport hotel experience for both business and leisure travellers alike."

Last week, data from business advisors PFK showed that the hotel occupancy rate across Edinburgh during April was 77.2 per cent, six per cent higher than during the equivalent period in 2008, as reported by the Scotsman.
