Up to 60 hotel jobs are to be created in Southend-on-Sea when the seaside resort's Palace hotel reopens, it has been reported.
Restoration of the iconic landmark is underway and the facility will reopen as the 137-bedroom Park Inn later this year, leading to hospitality recruitment in the town, reports the Echo.
Naomi Phillips, from the Rezidor group, told a Southend Business Partnership meeting that the resort was "well-placed for the type of three-star hotel accommodation provided by the Park Inns brand".
She added: "The hotel will be employing 40 full-time and 20 part-time staff as well as a pool of casual workers who can be called on for functions and special events.
"We would be looking at recruiting all the staff for the hotel locally."
Some of the catering recruitment opportunities will be in the new 120-seater first-floor restaurant and bar area, the newspaper states.
Last month, the Kent and Sussex Courier reported that hospitality jobs could be created in Tonbridge if plans to convert a mansion house into a five-star hotel are given the go-ahead.
