Bristol City Football Club could be set to create hotel jobs after its vision for a new stadium won support from planners.
Although the council rejected the part of the scheme which would have seen a housing development included in the project, they were minded to approve the other ideas.
The club will now resubmit plans for a new stadium which will include a hotel and conference facilities.
Colin Sexstone, chief executive of Bristol City, expressed his relief at the positive outcome of the meeting with planners.
He said: "The biggest hurdle was they [councillors] are minded to approve a stadium in the green belt and we have got through that."
Recently, Travelodge revealed that it is set to open a range of hotels across the UK.
The new facilities will be in Liverpool, Macclesfield, Newquay, Bournemouth, Edinburgh, Norwich and Farnborough and are expected to create around 150 hotel jobs.
