A total of 50 hotel jobs have been created in Belfast after budget chain Ibis launched two properties in the city.

The first, located on King Street, has already opened and its counterpart in the Queen's Quarter is set to welcome guests within weeks.

Northern Ireland also looks set for a further hotel jobs boost as Ibis is planning to open three more hotels in the next few years.

The Northern Irish arm of the Ibis franchise is being operated by property development firm Andras House.

Lord Diljit Rana, chairman and chief executive of the firm, said: "It is symbolic of their trust in the Northern Ireland tourism product and in the quality of service they know will be delivered to our high standards locally."

Recently, 4NI.co.uk reported that a St Patrick-themed hotel could be built in the Northern Irish town of Downpatrick.

The development is expected to create 75 hotel jobs if it goes ahead.
