Around 130 new hotel jobs could be created in Carmarthenshire if developers can secure funding.
Plans for a 100-bedroom hotel at Pensam have been on the cards for five years, but the firm behind the project is still looking for the financial backing needed to make the scheme happen, Thisissouthwales.co.uk reported.
Gryphon Leisure is looking to build a hotel with spa, leisure and conferencing facilities on a six-and-a-half acre site but economic conditions have made for slow going.
Speaking to the news provider, hotelier Angela Saunders, said: "We have expressed an intent to buy the property and we are just waiting to see what funding is available and whether we could go ahead with it."
A maximum of 130 new hotel jobs will be created by the project, she added.
Last month, the County Times reported that the Elephant & Castle hotel in Newtown is set to undergo refurbishment work at the start of next year.
The project will elevate the facility to four star status and could lead to the creation of new hotel jobs.
