Hospitality jobs in the Midlands could be boosted as the Ricoh Arena undergoes a £3 million redevelopment, reports Event magazine.
The upgrade to the Coventry City ground will see the addition of conference and exhibition rooms while the poker room will become another hall for event organisers.
Plans for a £500,000 on-site hotel are also in the pipeline for 2010.
Ricoh Arena chief executive Daniel Gidney told the news provider: "We have always intended to expand the Ricoh Arena because we needed an indoor auditorium and the additional halls three, four and five will have retractable walls which will allow us to target a whole new market."
He added that in the past, bookings for weddings, conferences and exhibitions had been turned down due to the facilities being used for corporate hospitality on Coventry City match days, with bookings being affected by possible fixture list changes.
Last year, Tottenham Hotspur submitted a planning application which would include the building of hospitality facilities and a hotel at their White Hart Lane ground.
