Plans to redevelop a historic building could create hotel jobs in Bath, according to the Bath Chronicle.
Samuel Smith is in talks with Bath and North East Somerset Council and English Heritage to turn the 18th century former King Edward's school into a hotel.
Plans were first drawn up in 1997 to turn the landmark into a pub but were put on hold due to concerns about the inclusion of a lift.
Recent talks have focused on turning the building into a hotel and have concluded that a lift may not be necessary.
The most recent planning application says that the hotel would have 12 en-suite bedrooms and employ three full-time and 12 part-time members of staff.
Samuel Smith recently turned a 16th century building into a pub and hopes that its most recent plans will have the same success.
The newspaper revealed that a report from consultants Cunnane Town Planning stated: "The proposed layout of the premises will ensure that the amenities of local residents are preserved, and the applicant is willing to accept the imposition of suitably-worded conditions to secure this."
Travelodge recently submitted plans to create 38 hotel jobs in Liverpool through the redevelopment of a neglected car park into a 141-bedroom budget hotel.
