Hotel managers at Edinburgh Airport's Hilton hotel are to benefit from upgrades after a £320,000 refurbishment was completed, reports the Edinburgh Evening News.

The investment has paid for 40 bedrooms to be refurbished and upgraded, along with improvements to the bar, restaurant and public areas.

Nine million passengers fly to 110 worldwide destinations from Edinburgh each year and over the next two years the airport plans to invest £40 million in a major terminal extension.

By 2011, the airport hopes to be able to cater for 13 million passengers a year.

Michael Squire, general manager of Hilton Edinburgh Airport, told the news provider: "With this refurbishment we are delighted to be improving what the hotel has to offer."

The Scotsman recently reported that plans for two new hotels along with a meeting room, bar, restaurant and gym at Edinburgh Airport could create around 175 hotel jobs in the city next year.
