Hotel jobs will be created when a £20 million hotel opens in Chesterfield later this year.

Steve Perez, chairman of Bradbury Hall Developments, is behind the new project, which will create the first four-star hotel in the area.

Called Casa, the hotel will have up to 100 rooms, 11 meeting spaces and a 180-capacity banqueting suite.

"Casa will provide a new multi-purpose venue for corporate, conference and the leisure market. It will also create over 500 jobs in the local economy," Mr Perez added.

The hotel will have a Spanish theme and will include a 100-cover restaurant, terraces and gardens.

In its opening, 500 positions will be created, including hotel jobs and bar jobs. Mr Perez added that it will be a "significant development" for Chesterfield.

It follows the news that Starwood Hotels and Resorts will open 49 new Sheraton hotels in the next three years, boosting hotel jobs across the world.
