People looking for catering jobs in Manchester could have something to smile about thanks to a proposed new development at one of the city's football clubs.

Regeneration at Manchester City's City of Manchester Stadium in Berwick includes a plan to build a five-star hotel that would be owned and operated by the football club.

Howard Raynor, managing director of Manchester-based consultancy World Class Service, told Crain's that location is a crucial factor in the success or failure of any planned establishment.

"For a hotelier, location is absolutely everything. It would only make sense if there was residential or conferencing space on the site. It would be great to see anything that drives leisure jobs and an increase in skills on that site," he stated.

Hotel jobs in Berkshire have recently been boosted by the opening of a new Hilton hotel in Reading, which includes a pool, gym, aerobics room, sauna and steam room as well as a bar and restaurant.
