Plans for St Albans hotel to be revised

Developers planning a new hotel in St Albans are going back to the drawing board in order to come up with a new proposal, according to one website, which could interest those looking for hotel jobs in Hertfordshire.

ThisIsLocalLondon.co.uk reported that the original plans for a city centre development were withdrawn by Antringham Verulamium and Travelodge after their joint proposal received objections from the St Albans Civic Society.

But the developers are set to draw up new plans which should appease the protestors and could create hotel jobs in Hertfordshire, according to one expert.

Councillor Chris Brazier, cabinet member for planning on St Albans council, said that the developers are right to come back with revised plans and he thinks the town needs a new hotel.

"I think they are right to go back and rethink the whole thing. We do need a hotel in St Albans but it needs to meet the needs of the people of St Albans and fit in with the character of the conservation area," he stated.

The original plans were set to be reviewed at a public inquiry on April 20th, but this has now been cancelled.
