One of the world's largest hotel groups has bolstered its position in the UK by setting up three new establishments in Birmingham, Braintree and Shrewsbury.

The Hilton-owned Hampton Hotels brand is behind the move, which will create around 500 additional rooms for the chain in Britain and bolster UK hotel jobs.

"These three new Hampton by Hiltons are a welcome addition to our UK portfolio and demonstrate the momentum behind the brand," said John Rogers, vice president of operations at Hilton Worldwide.

Mr Rogers added that it is less than a year since the first Hampton by Hilton was opened in the UK and he believes the latest move signals the brand's commitment continued expansion.

In other UK hotel jobs news, the Jumeirah hotel group, which is behind the seven-star Burj Al Arab in Dubai, has started to look for a site in Edinburgh, as it looks to expand its European operation.
