The owners of a famous Northumberland hotel have expressed their sadness at selling the establishment, but believe the new proprietors will continue the good work done there, according to a newspaper.

Robert and Gina Parker will take over the Doxford Hall Hotel and former owner Brian Burnie told the Northumberland Gazette he is optimistic about the future of the establishment.

"After 17 years, this is an important milestone for me and my family and of course we will be sad to leave. However, I am reassured that Robert and Gina will continue to operate Doxford Hall to the same high standards as ourselves," he stated.

The newspaper added that Mr Parker was passionate about recruiting local staff and using local suppliers, which could be great news for people looking for catering and hospitality jobs.

English hotel owners are set to have a better summer than their Scottish counterparts, according to a new report published by accountancy firm PKF.
