A £3.2 million redevelopment package from the European Union is set to transform a Welsh town and help to revamp a hotel in the area, according to a news provider.

The BBC reported on the proposals for Ferndale in Rhondda Cynon Taf, which has already seen development work around the Anchor Hotel, with the completion of the project set for 2012.

Councillor Paul Cannon, cabinet member for economic development, told the news provider that the regeneration of the town will involve the community and include work on The Strand and the creation of the walkway from Lime Street car park.

"Ferndale is one of a number of town centres we have identified for regeneration and work has already been significant ... the consultation will provide everyone with the opportunity to comment and find out more information about the regeneration in Ferndale," he stated.

Preston is also set to get a new hotel as part of a development scheme which is going to transform the centre, according to the Lancashire Evening Post.
