Work on a multi-million pound eco hotel has started and will create 150 hospitality jobs once it gets fully underway, according to one newspaper.

The Derby Telegraph reported on the progress of the 218-room establishment at East Midlands Airport, which will be a four-star hotel and feature a restaurant, bar, and health suite, including a pool, sauna, steam rooms and gym.

John Atkins, managing director of MAG Developments, told the newspaper that the development will help to fill demand for such an establishment in the East Midlands area.

"This development will meet the much-needed demand for quality accommodation and conference facilities in the area. With the economy still in recovery we felt it was a good opportunity to start the project," he stated.

The Burton Mail reported that Travelodge is planning to open the establishments in the West Midlands and comes after Premier Inn announced plans to create a new hotel in the Burton area.
