A 296-room hotel and conference centre could be built on the edge of Cambridge and help to create new hospitality jobs in the region, according to one website.
CambridgeNews.com reported that there have been plans for a new Radisson Blu Hotel located next to The Trinity Centre and more than 100 new roles would be created if it is given the all clear.
Lord Mark Birdwood, chairman of Steeldome, a consortium of companies behind the plans, told the newspaper that the hotel would employ a lot of people and give them "proper" careers.
"Cambridge is curiously thin when it comes to conference facilities. If you want to have a world-class conference, you are forced to wait until summer and use a college. Any quality hotel has to have a very strong social dimension and the Blu will improve the social interaction on the science park," he told the publication.
In other news, the Lancashire Evening Post reported plans from the Premier Inn hotel chain to bring a new establishment to Preston's city centre, which would also include retail units.
