A new Hilton Double Tree Hotel is set to be built on Lincoln's Brayford Wharf North development, bringing many hospitality jobs to the area.

This is hotel and leisure contractor Multibuild's first major contract win since it was acquired by Balfour Beatty in January.

The contract for the 115-bedroom hotel was successfully negotiated with Lincolnshire-based developer Manorcrest Homes and construction is scheduled to start next June.

It will also feature a gymnasium, cafe and a feature glass lift, which will provide access to a rooftop restaurant with views of Lincoln Cathedral.

Leigh Hall, managing director of Manorcrest Homes, said: "We decided to negotiate this scheme exclusively with Multibuild due to their experience and track record of hotel construction. This is our first hotel development and they are market leaders in the sector."

Back in May, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reported on plans for a Hilton Garden Inn to be built in Aberdeen, which it claimed would bring around 45 hotel jobs to the city.
