St Austell brewery is to build a 33-bedroom lodge adjoining a pub in Truro, Cornwall, which could create many hotel jobs.
Work is scheduled to start next to the County Arms at the end of September and is set to be completed by Easter 2011.
Adam Luck, St Austell Brewery's estate director, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for us and will give us our first hotel in the city of Truro, close to the headquarters of Cornwall Council and the Royal Cornwall Hospital."
He went on to explain that this development is the latest stage in St Austell Brewery's expansion strategy.
The company already owns 176 pubs, inns and hotels in the region.
Last month, the charity-owned eatery Fifteen Cornwall appointed new head chef Andy Appleton, who worked alongside Jamie Oliver when he set up one of his first restaurants.
During his career, Mr Appleton has also spent time as head chef at the Italian-style Tabernacle Bar and Grill in London.
