Plans have been lodged to build a major golf and tourist resort in the north-east of Scotland, which will include a luxury hotel.

If the proposed development at Inchmarlo Golf Centre is approved, many hotel jobs will be created, the Press and Journal suggests.

The site, which is near Banchory, would also gain a number of £900,000 homes, a prestigious cookery school and a top-class restaurant next to the existing golf centre.

When the plans were lodged with Aberdeenshire Council, the business behind the project said it would complement another resort north of Aberdeen built by Donald Trump.

"This is welcome news. Alongside Trump International Golf Links, Scotland, developments such as this will help the north-east to become established as a world-class golf tourism destination," said Sarah Malone, senior vice-president of Trump International - Scotland.

Last month in Scotland, Caterer.com opened voting for the inaugural Best Employers in Hospitality Awards 2010.
