Budget hotels to open in London

A Malaysian budget hotel chain is coming to London, bringing with it many hotel jobs.

The company - Tune Hotels - aims to become the Ryanair of hotel chains, offering rock-bottom prices foraccommodation but charging for added extras.

To use a hair drier, customers will have to pay £2 and if they want the use of a towel it will cost £1.

People who want their rooms to be cleaned will have to pay £7.50, but with standard room rates being set at £35 this could be seen as reasonable.

The rooms in the new central London hotels will be extremely simple, but will include power showers.

Plans have been made for 15 new hotels to open across Greater London by 2017, which will create 1,500 rooms and hundreds of hospitality jobs.

"We are obviously relevant in recessionary downturns. When times are good, people travel more and we are able to tap into that market share too," Tune Hotels founder Tony Fernandes told the Independent.

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that multi-millionaire Richard Caring is to open a new restaurant opposite the US embassy in central London.
