Crowne Plaza uses grass to promote creativity in hotel staff

Crowne Plaza is laying fresh grass in its meeting rooms in order to inspire creativity in those employed in the company's hotel jobs.

Research conducted by InterContinental Hotels Group, which owns Crowne Plaza, revealed that 40 per cent of professionals lose focus within the first 20 minutes of a meeting, often due to their uninspiring surroundings.

Angela Whitlock, author of Walk on the Grass and a professional speaker, described the hotel chain's initiative as "perfect" because it breaks down rules that prevent people from achieving their full potential.

"Everybody should kick off their shoes once in a while and walk barefoot on the grass to rekindle the creativity that was allowed to flow freely in childhood before too many rules got in the way," she added.

Next month, people in hotel jobs in London will be taking to grass in a different scenario when they take part in a charity football tournament.

The Hotel and Catering seven-a-side football tournament is being hosted by PJ Search & Selection at Bishops Park on Sunday September 19th.
