Travelodge has created more hotel jobs in Edinburgh by opening its 11th venue in the capital city.

The 96-bed, £7.9 million hotel is located on Waterloo Place and has opened in time for the Edinburgh Festival.

It is already on track to be fully booked on its opening weekend, offering rooms from £19 per night.

Guy Parsons, chief executive at Travelodge, explained that growth in Edinburgh has been one of the company's top priorities of late.

"We have committed around £50 million to new hotels in the city over the past three years, acquiring existing hotels that had fallen below the standards that the modern day consumer expects," he said.

Mr Parsons concluded that the company is looking forward to launching more hotels in the city over the coming years.

Earlier this month, the Edinburgh Evening News reported that new plans have been drawn up to keep shops and cafes in Edinburgh open later.
