Voting has opened for the Hospitality Sheffield Awards, which aim to reward those in the industry who have provided an excellent service.

Those in hospitality jobs in the steel city are battling it out in particular for the Sheffield Smile award, which honours the worker who most brightens people's days with their warm and friendly personality.

This year's Hospitality Sheffield Awards will take place on September 30th at Mercure Sheffield St Paul's Hotel and Spa, the Sheffield Star reports.

Readers of the newspaper are being asked to choose between the ten finalists who are in the running for the Sheffield Smile award.

The finalists include 24-year-old Katie Bricknell, senior food and beverage host at Hilton Sheffield, and Karen Foreman, 41, who has been receptionist at the Source for seven years.

Later this month, another ceremony - the Best Employers in Hospitality Awards 2010 - is to take place in Scotland.
