Those working in hospitality jobs at bed and breakfast (B&B) venues have been celebrating their recognition at TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Hotel awards.

Six British B&B properties were ranked among the top ten in the world with Scotland's the Old Manse in Invermoriston being crowned number one.

David Weston, chief executive at the Bed and Breakfast Association, said that Britain was one of the nations that led the way with the concept of staying in people's homes.

"We are also known for our great British breakfast, and the best places to enjoy that are at B&Bs, where your host will cook you a fresh breakfast, often using local ingredients," he added.

Third and fourth on TripAdvisor's list of the top ten B&Bs in the world are Saltcote Place in Rye, East Sussex, and Riverside Hotel in Ambleside, Cumbria.

Fifth and sixth on the list were the Number One B&B in Deal, Kent, and the Twenty One in Brighton, East Sussex, respectively.
