Hotel management positions are set to be created at a new luxury property in Bath city centre.

YTL, the parent company of Wessex Water, has taken over the project at the grade two-listed former Gainsborough Building, with work due to commence in spring 2012.

According to the Bath Chronicle, the construction process and running of the hotel will create more than 200 new jobs in the West Country city and the 98-room property is scheduled to open to the public in 2014.

Mark Yeoh, president of YTL Hotels, said the company is delighted to expand its international portfolio and gain a foothold in the Bath hotels market.

"During their stay at the hotel, guests will be able to enjoy the thermal waters below Bath. It will be a unique experience and one that isn't offered anywhere else in the country," he added.

YTL Hotels is the hospitality arm of YTL, a Malaysian conglomerate that specialises in construction contracting, hotels and resorts, property development and power generation.
