Hotel recruitment in Plymouth has been given a boost with the news that its historic Boringdon Hall hotel could create 50 jobs and build a 60-bedroom extension to its existing site.
Having the venue reclassified as a four-star hotel is the ultimate aim of the scheme, with plans to include a luxury spa in the development, reports the Plymouth Herald.
The Nettleton Group is expecting to submit planning permission to the local council in the coming year and hopes for work to begin on the expansion by September. It is currently refurbishing the hotel's existing 40 rooms, with the project moving towards completion in March.
Carla Lamb, group marketing and PR manager, said the company had already "spent a great deal" on revamping the property but this extension project was a different venture.
She described the hotel as "an amazing building" and added that the group plans "to make sure it reaches its potential and provides a well-needed facility in Plymouth".
Boringdon Hall was first mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book commissioned by William the Conquerer.
