A new hospitality project in Birmingham is set to create 100 hotel jobs for the city and offer a boost to the City Park Gate redevelopment scheme, which aims to regenerate the Eastside district.

The £24 million, 174-bed hotel will open its doors for the first time in March and is expected to be lit with illuminated signs which will alter the skyline of the city centre, reports the Birmingham Mail.

It is expected to include a restaurant and bar as well as a street cafe, ensuring a number of hospitality positions will be made available in the area.

Adrian Wyatt, chief executive of City Park Gate planners Quintan Estates and Development, said the regeneration scheme would "open a new era for the centre of Birmingham".

It has faced a number of setbacks over recent years but will be given a boost by the opening of this new hotel.

The establishment will be part of the Hotel La Tour group, which is planning to build five UK hotels over the next five years.
