Budget hotel to offer Newcastle jobs

Hospitality recruitment in Newcastle could be given a boost by the news that Sleeperz, a budget hotel group which started its operation in Cardiff, is opening a new establishment in the north-east.
The company has built a 98-bedroom, six-storey hotel on the former site of Parcel Works close to Newcastle's Central Station, reports Caterer and Hotelkeeper.
It opened its first outlet in Cardiff in 2008 and intends to use a recent £7 million investment to open new hotels around the UK.
David Myers, chief executive of Sleeperz Hotels, said the product his company is offering is perfect for the hospitality market in the current economic climate.
"We are currently in a pre-planning stage regarding sites in London and Liverpool, as well as looking at other locations in Birmingham and Bristol," Mr Myers explained.
The company claimed to have made innovative use of land next to mainline railway terminals, something which it argues gives its hotels a unique and quirky style.
