Hospitality recruitment in Northern Ireland could be given a boost through plans to develop a new hotel in the north coast town of Ballycastle.

Invest NI has been urged to put money into the £12 million development, which would become Ballycastle's only temporary accommodation after the closure of the Marine Hotel in 2010.

The development is expected to create 70 full-time and 35 part-time jobs.

Councillor Padraig McShane claimed he is confident the plan can be delivered, but urged the enterprise minister and Invest NI to offer it a degree of support.

"Moyle has consistently attempted to create a tourist infrastructure that would be in keeping with the natural tourist product of the district," added Mr McShane.

He added that the development would fit into government plans to support tourism in the region and encourage future investment.

Invest NI is the business development agency in Northern Ireland and offers funding to a variety of start-up companies across the country.
