Hotel recruitment could be bolstered in Wincanton, Somerset, with the development of a new Travelodge in the area mooted as potentially bringing nearly £1 million into the town in economic growth.
The figures from the budget hotel group's tourism investment survey show it could create £898,776 for local shops and businesses, reports the Western Gazette.
Around 100 jobs are expected to be generated as part of the development, which will include a KFC and Marston's pub, and is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
Town mayor Colin Winder said: "If these figures are accurate, it would be a massive boost for Wincanton … these jobs will be sought after and are exactly what the town needs."
He added that the Long Close site where Travelodge will be situated has the potential to host more businesses, with the local council "exploring options" to fill these units.
Late last year, Travelodge announced plans to pursue an aggressive expansion policy in 2012, adding 146 locations in the UK to its list of potential budget hotels.
